Why the 7-inch vinyl format?

Originally introduced in the late 1940s as the standard format for singles, the 7-inch record became a vehicle for radio hits, underground gems, and dancefloor classics alike.

With just a few minutes per side, it leaves no room for excess, only intention.

I’m drawn to that clarity. The 7” format demands selection, timing, and respect for the groove.
